Spring is a great time of year with better weather and a profusion of color, especially greens accented with the blossoms of trees and flowers. To give this kitchen that spring feeling a fresh palette of greens and rich cream is used, all touched with dashes of bright color. A renovation combined two smaller rooms into this one large open space, so there’s plenty of room to cook and entertain.
Two beautiful large windows face each other at one end. Decorative grilles add nice details and make great light and shadow patterns. Cushions and pillows on top of storage drawers provide a nice comfortable area to relax and stay close to the action.
Using an L-shaped layout added a strong element perpendicular to the length helping to visually shorten the room. The tall cabinets also break the room into shorter visual segments. Round metal legs are used to keep things from feeling cluttered and provide a nice common brightening accent throughout the kitchen. The island opposite the tall cabinets provides counter space right where it’s needed. Drawers are mounted underneath and there’s still room for additional casual dining.
Playful splashes of bright colors make things sparkle. Breakfast for two is easy with the extended countertop. The ceilings are lower than usual everywhere except the space between the two windows, but shorter glass front cabinets add visual height. Mirrored backsplashes provide more interest and add the perception of a wider space.
The chefs have their own space to find, store and plan the scrumptious delights to be made. The legs at the end of the counter help harmonize the overall decor. Plenty of storage cabinets are strategically placed for easy access and to keep clutter in control.
Light and bright is the main theme to keep everyone smiling.
Now it’s your turn!
